From the Pastor's Desk

“But he brought his people out like a flock; he led them like sheep through the desert.  He guided them safely, so they were unafraid; but the sea engulfed their enemies. Thus, he brought them to the border of his holy land, to the hill country his right hand had taken. He drove out nations before them and allotted their lands to them as an inheritance; he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes.” Ps 78:52-55.

Meditating in God’s Word today, I ‘heard Him’ highlight the words above, that are in bold.  In our current season, God has truly brought us safely, to the ‘place’ where we are—the border.

A border is a marking of one place from another—in our situation—from leaving Graham Road in Wealdstone to the new place.  We are at the border—63 days away from leaving and entering. It also says that He brought them to the ‘hill country.’  Why not the flat, easily-traversable, plain?  I believe that He is always leading us to the ‘new place’ of challenge and faith-victory, in this life, so we stay wonderfully close and connected to Him. The ‘hill,’ represents the faith-challenge, to secure and settle in our new place.  It is not a hill that will be taken by human effort, desire, or strength—only by great grace released by faith—our faith together.  It also says, “…he drove out the nations and allotted their lands to them as their inheritance….”  God will take us “in” as surely as He has taken us “out.”  He settled them.  We have been somewhat nomadic in our journey, as far as ‘sheepsheds’ are concerned.  A new ‘place’ will allow for us to concentrate on the reaching the harvest, discipling believers, training leaders, taking forward ‘mission’ in all the earth and being the ‘light of God’ in our community.  Agree with God today…say it aloud:

  • He has brought us to the border!
  • He has brought us to the hill!
  • He will drive out the former to give us our inheritance!
  • We will ‘settle’ in our ‘new home!’
