“Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” Ps. 57:1.
Our soul, the primary residence of our thought life, must find a ‘place of refuge,’ or a place of peace and safety…especially in these times. The Psalmist says, “I will take refuge….” Taking refuge or finding a place of safety and peace, is first a decision.
You cannot let your emotions or feelings keep you in the ‘pit of despair, fear, or worry.’ You make a decision, to put your eyes, your thoughts and your focus away from what ‘terrorises’ you.
Every bit of trouble that comes your way, comes with the life-paralysing thoughts and emotions of fear—brought to you ‘free of charge,’ from the Spirit of Fear. To make the Lord, your High Tower, your Refuge, your Shield, and your Safe Place, you must turn to Him, His Word, and the work of His Spirit. It is the work of the Spirit that embeds His Peace into your heart as you focus on Him.
Put on the worship music, join in the singing and worship, meditate in the Word, make some ‘out-lout’ confessions of what you believe, not what Satan has whispered. Rebuke the Devil and He will flee!
Take some time to love on some others—this gives a favour-releasing rest to your life, as you care for others. God is faithful! Put your powerful faith in Him! This ‘storm will pass’ and you will have ridden on top of it!
