From the Pastor's Desk

“Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath….”  Isa. 51:6.

Most believers should be looking down more often…we typically associate looking down with feeling dejected, sad, angry, depressed or discouraged.

However, the verse above is really telling us to look down at the earth from our Heavenly vantage point that also is re-affirmed in Eph. 2:6.  Even mountains look different from an airplane.

In the travel of life’s journey, it can seem, at times, as though we are at the bottom of a very deep ravine with the sides so severe there is no way out.  However, that earth-view perception is not accurate and if we persist in holding that view, wearing those ‘glasses,’ we will sink in fear, discouragement and despair.

This is not God’s plan for our lives.  He said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”  The enemy of our soul and our lives tells us to add up all the negative facts and then surrender to defeat.  However, we don’t live by facts so much as we live by the truth that trumps the facts.

Abraham faced the facts but believed the truth.  Rom. 4:19-21.  It is time to look down on all that is so, so small and insignificant and powerless by comparison to where we are standing and Whom we are standing with…
